Sigma Phi Alpha Purchases Books |

This year we started a new project for our first year dental hygiene students. Our President, Taylor White, (pictured far right) presented each student with their Wilkins Book. We chose to present the Wilkins Textbook because it is the one book we seem to keep forever.
The books were purchased via Lippincott and presented at the Fall orientation. We designed and applied a personalized bookplate to the inside cover. It congratulated the student and gave them contact information for Sigma Phi Alpha. You can see how happy they were to get their books!

Five first year dental hygiene students submitted essays to be considered for the Annual Sigma Phi Alpha Bookstore Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to students based on financial need. After reviewing the essays, the members voted that Vanessa Smith and Lisa Probert were each to be awarded $500. The Scholarship can be used to purchase books, supplies or whatever the winners choose from the West Charleston Book Store so long as they remain a student in good standing. President Taylor Swann presented the awards via Skype at the SADHA meeting on Tuesday, September 18, 2012. |
