SNDHA President's Message

Greetings fellow professionals,

Well, it’s time to begin another year.  It’s kind of funny that we celebrate the New Year in January, but begin our new year in August.  School starts up again.  Our association begins its business meetings.  We have a new board of trustees.  Another year of continuing education scheduled.  But, the real question is, what are we going to make this new year about?

One of the privileges of being SNDHA President is that I can choose a pet project for the year.  I’ve decided that it’s time to focus on the homeless.  If you have an organization you would like to help out, please let one of your board members know and we’ll put them on the list.

I got this idea when we had the opportunity to visit the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center for the ADHA community service day.  It was so amazing to connect with these young people and share a little of our knowledge.

So, let’s make this year about giving back.  Have you thought about volunteering?  Don’t know where to start or what to do?  Well, you are welcome to go out on your own and ask for our assistance.   However, have you thought about giving back to yourself?  SNDHA is a not-for-profit organization that is here for the benefit of Southern Nevada dental hygienists.  When you volunteer with us, you are giving back to your association, community, and yourself.  What could be better than that?

Happy New Year!

Heather Rogers, BSDH
